Mazda Sales Up 21 Percent in 2012 vs. Last Year


Who wants a to drive a new Mazda? It seems just about anyone! The auto brand continues to grow rapidly, and its sales were through the roof for April 2012 at 4.2 percent, with overall yearly increases of more than 21 percent vs. last year's numbers. In April, Mazda sold an amazing 21,506 vehicles, totaling 103,259 vehicles so far this year. This lead to the company achieving its best April sales month since 2008. It's been since 1994 that Mazda has reached over 100-thousand units sold this soon in the sales year.

Mazda Takeri Concept Rolls into NY Auto Show



Could a new diesel powertrain be imminent for auto brand Mazda? If the 2012 New York Auto Show is any indication, the answer is yes! The automaker showcased its first fuel-efficient SkyActiv stop/start diesel concept at the show in its new Mazda Takeri Concept. Mazda Rotary Engine Could Go Full Circle After Refresh



While most automakers gave up on the fuel-thirsty rotary engine by the 1970s or 1980s, Mazda found a way to make them work. Beginning with the futuristic 1967 Mazda Cosmo Sport 110, the company cemented its dedication to rotary technology, and eventually, this lead to the iconic line of Mazda RX-7 sports cars and the (more recent) Mazda RX-8. Unfortunately, there's still only so much efficiency the company can squeeze out of these engines, and despite notable increases in power and fuel economy and lower emissions, it seems that it's time to phase out the rotary.

Special Edition Mazda MX-5 Miata Swerves Into Chicago Auto Show
