MAZDA CX-5 Standard Safety

MAZDA CX-5 Many of the standard safety features of the Mazda CX-5 stem from the i-Activsense® suite. This collection includes a nice variety of safety systems that provide well-rounded support on your drives.

For example, you may have to drive through a busy city center on your way to the office. If so, you’ll appreciate the Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection system. It alerts you to possible collisions with other drivers or people crossing the street. Should it detect a collision, it will work to stop the vehicle and potentially prevent any serious accident.

When you drive on the highway at increased speeds, it calls for even more safety. The Mazda CX-5 offers the following standard systems to provide assistance:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert: alerts you to nearby cars as you merge
  • Lane Departure Warning System with Lane-keep Assist: ensures you stay between lane lines
  • Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go: sets a preferred speed and following distance from other cars

All of these safety features work in conjunction with a number of other stabilizing forces. These include the Dynamic Stability Control with Traction Control System, which will come in handy during slick conditions. You’ll also have access to standard Hill Launch Assist, which makes it easier to handle uphill starts.

MAZDA CX-5 Available Safety

MAZDA CX-5 Even more safety is available when you upgrade to the highest trim level of the Mazda CX-5. You’ll find even more awareness that helps you park safely, turn tight corners, and more.

One of these great systems is the 360° View Monitor. If you ever find yourself in a crowded parking lot and need to squeeze into a small space, this monitor helps you see around your vehicle and judge how close you are to other cars.

Additional parking help comes in the form of front and rear parking sensors. You’ll feel more confident inching your car forward or in reverse to make sure you’re properly parked in a spot.

Another available upgrade is the Adaptive Front-lighting System. Perfect for those commuting at night or in the early mornings, this system sends your headlights in the direction your car is turning so that you have a better view of the road.

MAZDA CX-5 Safety Ratings

MAZDA CX-5 It’s also important to look at a model’s safety ratings. Reputable organizations like the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) put vehicles through a variety of crash tests and safety system checks to make sure everything works as designed.

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 was named an IIHS 2022 TOP SAFETY PICK+. It scored the highest rating of “Good” for many of the crash tests and even received a Superior score for its Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection system.

Top marks were also given to the Mazda CX-5 from the NHTSA. It earned a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating—the highest possible—and scored five stars all around for frontal and side crashes.
