2.5 S & 2.5 S Select

In total, there are eight trims in the Mazda CX-5 lineup. Starting off strong we have the base model–the 2.5 S. This model provides just a sample of the model’s capability. Still, you’re bound to be impressed with standard features, such as its i-Activ AWD^® system. Using this all-wheel drive system, you can travel on snowy, wet, muddy, or inclined roads with ease.

On top of this, the 2.5 S also comes awarded driver-assistive systems, like Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go. The model is available in four exterior colors and is compatible with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.

The next in line is the 2.5 S Select trim. In some aspects, this trim does not stray from the previous model. Both trims share the same EPA-estimated rating of 24 city and 30 highway MPG.¹ Also, the S Select is like-minded in terms of safety and infotainment.

That being said, the vehicle does add some more features, including a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, three more exterior color options, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

2.5 S Preferred & 2.5 S Carbon Edition

Here’s where things start to get interesting. The 2.5 S Preferred offers drivers more luxury starting with its interior. There, you’ll find leather-trimmed seating, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support and 2-position memory, and a Rear Power Liftgate. The Rear Power Liftgate allows for easy loading and unloading when traveling with your cargo. Hit the button to open the liftgate for access to your cargo, and hit it again to close it.

The 2.5 S Carbon Edition prides itself on its advancements in design. When driving this trim, you’ll find many of the same configurations and features as the Preferred. What sets it apart, however, is the inclusion of a unique black grille, black signature wing, and its Polymetal Gray Metallic exterior. It’s perfect for those who love an elevated look.

2.5 S Premium & 2.5 S Premium Plus

Next up is the 2.5 S Premium, which is the first model to introduce Sport and Off-road modes. These driving modes allow drivers to optimize their drive whether they’re looking for sport-like agility or want to conquer the rough roads ahead.

The 2.5 S Premium Plus trim takes much inspiration from its counterpart, however, it adds small details that make a big difference. These include a windshield wiper de-icer, a heated steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats. All of these features come in handy during those famous New England seasons.

2.5 Turbo & 2.5 Turbo Signature

Like its name suggests, the 2.5 Turbo provides a boost to driver’s performance and features. First and foremost, the engine is upgraded to the Skyactiv^®-G 2.5 Dynamic Pressure Turbo 4-cylinder. This engine is responsible for reaching a whopping 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque.

As for design, drivers enjoy the trims' front grille with Gloss Black finish and black leather-trimmed seating with red stitching. The trim reinstates the same features found in lower trims, including heated and ventilated front seats, a Rear Power Liftgate, and Sport/Off-road driving modes.

Now, we’ve hit the peak, with the 2.5 Turbo Signature. Again, this trim takes inspiration from the previous trim by supporting the same powerful Skyactiv^®-G 2.5 Dynamic Pressure Turbo 4-cylinder engine. Other trim-exclusive features worth mentioning include a Signature badge and genuine layered wood trim.
